Creating a home based business out of something that you love to do is the best thing to do if you are wanting it to be a success. There is nothing better than to get paid for doing something that you love to do. There are many options that you could try to turn your hobbies into a lucrative home based business.
1. You could create and sell arts and crafts.
2. Sell antiques and collectible. You can do this several ways. Sell them online or set up at flea markets. Maybe even get a booth in an antique mall.
3. If you love cosmetics you could sell them through direct selling or make your own.
4. Teach something! Piano, singing, a sport, dance, and more. Whatever you are good at and can do very well can be taught.
5. Do you love dogs? Why not breed them or start a grooming home based business. Or if you have the skills and patience, maybe you could train them.
6. If you have a ton of knowledge about specific items, like antiques or stamps, you could start a home based appraisal business. Do it for local antique stores, auctioneers, or private estates.
So, if you have a passion for a hobby or something else that you love doing, why not get paid to do it? It should not be hard to turn your hobby into a home based business.

How To Set Yourself Apart From the Competition
To stand out in the crowd and leave your competitors behind , you have to be seen as a client focused company. Always strive to keep your clients happy by improving their service and by giving them support. Your clients will be willing to spend more money on the better service.
Ways to make your clients happy:
Treat them like superstars. It goes along way when you treat a client like they are important. Be aware of how you greet them on the phone. Make sure you answer their emails. Give great customer support. Just make sure you show that you do care.
Handle any complaints very professionally. You will lose any clients and business if they do not think that you are taking their concerns seriously. Handle them in a timely manner and take care of anything that needs done.
Always go far beyond anyones expectations. Go the extra mile.
Always have a detailed contract and agreement. When both parties understand the service and what they will be doing and getting , things should run more smoothly.
Never let it be a struggle to be reached. Always be in touch with your client. Let them have all contact information so they can always contact you with any questions. If you have to set certain hours though. You do not want someone calling at 10 oclock at night or 5 oclock in the morning.
If you try your hardest at keeping your clients and customers happy you should have a great business and a long relationship. They will also spread the word about how your service is the best. Free marketing!

Getting Work Done At Home

When you are a work at home mom with kids it is sometimes hard to get any work done .
You need to start telling them when they are young that you work like other people , you just stay at home and do it. They understand that mom works at home and dad works out of the home. They will most likely not interrupt you at work, because they can easily understand the idea of it being an actual job.
Make sure you set time aside to be with your kids. Divide your time up into times when you can do some of your work when the kids are around , Like crafts, but make sure your kids know the times not to bother you, like when you are writing.
Set goals with your kids. For example - If they are wanting to do something with you - tell them that you cannot stop what you are doing until you get 2 wreaths made, or 5 pages written , or something else concrete ! They can deal with that better than just saying leave me alone or just a minute. When my son was little I would tell him just a minute and he would stand at the door and count to 60!! He did not bother me when I told him what I was doing and my goal!
You could even use a timer . Set it for like 30 minutes and then your kids know that when that timer goes off they will have your full attention.
All of these tips help me and they should help you.

Turn Your Cloth Diapering Into A Home Business
I have been making and using cloth diapers for a while now. I have found many free patterns online so that I can sew my own. You can really sew some great looking ones. They sell for bundles on ebay!! You can recycle fabric at home, like t-shirts, fleece blankets, receiving blankets, and more. You can start a great home based business by sewing cloth diapers, the fitted ones are the best, and selling them online. You can sell them on ebay or create your own online store. This is a home based business that does not take a lot of up front cost or time. You could easily start this in a weekend. Make a few from the free patterns that are scattered all over the internet and start an ebay account to sell them. You could even add to your inventory and sell other baby items. Cloth Diapers Business has a lot of information about sewing cloth diapers and selling them. This is a great home based business that any work at home mom can do and find rewarding.

Treats Instead Of Sweets
I find that with being a stay at home/work at home mom I have to watch myself , because I will go to the fridge a lot and snack all day. It is so easy to just grab a bag of chips and a can of coke while I am working. I do not want to stop to cook something for myself! I do not always eat healthy. So this is all about other ways that you can treat yourself , so that you are not grabbing sweets and junk.
1. Go Outside! Go for a walk, a long drive in the country, go to the park, etc. I know this is a hard one now that it is colder weather. But I do go out on my back porch every once in a while to get a breath of fresh(and cold) air. It does wake me up!
2. Buy yourself some flowers.
3. Take a relaxing bubble bath. Or if you can , go to a spa.
4. Do something handy around the house that has been neglected. Fix something, Build something new, or work in the yard.
5. Buy yourself a great present. Something that you might not usually buy for yourself. Go to ebay and look around at designer handbags or something. Something totally extravagant.
6. Enjoy a sport. Go shoot some hoops at the local park or Y. Play some tennis, golf, or join a bowling team.
7. Curl up and just read a juicy novel. Grab a trashy book and relax. Although if it is too trashy it might make you more stressed and hot and bothered. HaHa.
8. Serve your favorite meal on your best china and invite someone special for dinner. Maybe a good time to have the grandparents over and remind them of how they said the kids would have fun spending a night with them!!
9. Take a class that you have always wanted to learn, like pottery, yoga, photography, or whatever.
10. Sit in the sun and take a nap. Get a hammock and lay in it outside where there is none of your work distractions.
11. Make a change in your day! Rearrange your furniture, get a new hairstyle, go on a day trip, shop at a different store, and anything else that is different..
12. Do something childish! Play around with the dog, go fly a kite, anything ! While the kids are at school, I will sometimes go and play a video game!! I still love Tomb Raider!
13. Go to a movie, concert, a play, a game, a museum, or a zoo.

Home Based Business In Bad times
During bad times it might be a good idea to start a home based business. You will be spending less for gas sometimes if you work at home. When times are hard you will be more likely to work harder at a home based business and be more successful at it. Just make sure that you do not spend too much money on any venture that might not be a good one. Try to find ways to promote it for free or very little money.
There are a few things that you could do out of your home to make money in these tight times. You could start offering child care services for other parents who are having to work more hours at their jobs. You could become a handy man or woman. In hard times people will most likely not want to buy new and will just want anything repaired that needs it. If you have a skill than use it to make yourself some extra money. If you have the room and a green thumb , maybe you could start a small garden and sell your pickings roadside or at a local farmers market. If you can sew, offer to do alterations.
There are many things that you can do in lean times that can make you some extra money. Starting a home based business when times are rough might be the best thing for you and your family. You will still be home with your family and be making money for your family. Just use your skills that you have and go with it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Home Based Business Idea - Handcrafted Runes
This is an easy way to make money online or you can sell them out of a flea market booth. They sell pretty good. You can make them yourself out of wood, river rocks, glass gems, or whatever else you can think of. I have even seen them made out of clay. You could even go a little further and make jewelry out of them. I used to make them and sell them on online auction sites, like Gothic Auctions.
I even have a supplier that I can buy them from and they will dropship them for me. I have used this supplier for a few years now. Stonelite Creations. I like them because they have true gemstone runes that I cannot make myself and I would sell them with my handcrafted ones. Dropship Info can be found here. They have a very straight forward dropship policy and with their beautiful rune sets, you will love them.
This is just an idea for something a little unique that you could do out of your home to make some money. As with anything , you can make as much or as little as you want! You just have to work at it.

10 Businesses You Can Start For $500 Or Less!
Long time statistics have shown that 9 out of 10 new businesses fail in their first year. Lack of planning and financial ruin is one of the most common causes. Starting small is a way to insure minimal risk in new business. The founder of Dell computers was a college dropout on a shoe-string budget who started his business out of his garage. One in three computers sold today is a Dell.
The following is a list of just some of the businesses you can start for $500 or less.
1. Housekeeping - Requirements/ household cleaners, mop, broom, vacuum, towels, bucket, business cards - approximate cost $150. Molly Maids is a multi-million dollar business started with a broom, a mop, and quality and reliable service. I can guarantee you that the CEO of Molly Maids doesn't clean houses any longer.
2. Gardening or landscaping - Requirements/ mower, edger, blower, rake, shovel, clippers, business cards - approximate cost $450. Some education won't hurt you here, but even without it, how much money did you make mowing the neighbors yard when you were young?
3. Internet sales - Requirements/ computer - approximate cost $500. It's likely you already have a computer at home so this just might be the cheapest and easiest business to start. It has been estimated that by the year 2020, nearly all retail purchases will be done over the World Wide Web. Getting on the bandwagon now may set you up for a prosperous internet business in the near future. Look into working with "drop ship" companies to avoid up front expense and storage fees.
4. Mobile food service - Requirements/ business cards - approximate cost $30. With a half hour lunch break, employees at many companies have little time to leave work and order lunch. Providing a morning menu for lunchtime delivery can be helpful to these people and provide a good source of income for you. Your job? Call in the order, pick it up, and deliver it; for a fee of course. Delivering 15 lunches to one company at $3 to $5 profit apiece can add up quick. Or how about a hot dog cart at special events?
5. Pool service - Requirements/ pool cleaning supplies, start-up chemicals, brush, net, hose, business cards - Approximate cost $400. States with warmer climates have many homes with swimming pools needing weekly care. Service to numerous homes in the same area can net you a small fortune. Business cards on the door or mailbox lets the homeowner know you are available. It may take some time to get a solid clientele, but be patient; established pool service routes can be very valuable if and when you decide to call it quits.
6. Consulting service - Requirements/ know-how, business cards - Approximate cost $30. What do you know that might be of monetary value to others? Sell your smarts!
7. Delivery service - Requirements/ the car, scooter, or bicycle you may already have/ business cards - Approximate cost $30. A great business within large city limits. Corporations, small businesses, restaurants, etc. may be in need of delivery services. Whether it is paper documents, payrolls, food, or other items, delivery services can be a steady and profitable business.
8. Painter - Requirements/ brushes, rollers, edger's, towels, tarps, business cards - Approximate cost $200. Visit local hardware stores to let them know you are available for work and will purchase paint through their stores. Their referrals may keep you busy for months at a time.
9. Handyman - Requirements/ basic tools, business cards - Approximate cost $500. Depending on they type of jobs you acquire in this business, a contractors license may eventually be required. Check with your local and state government offices to determine at what point you will need one.
10. Daycare - Requirements/ toys, educational materials, bedding, a safe and clean home, love - Approximate cost $300. This business requires patience and child care experience. If you care for more than three children at one time, it's likely you will be required to be licensed. Check with your local and state government offices for restrictions and requirements.
Most of these business start-up ideas will require an additional two items you likely already have; an automobile and a telephone. But otherwise, they are super simple and easy to start new businesses suitable for nearly anyone wanting to become self-employed.
The key to having a successful business is to do what you would enjoy doing anyway. Make a list of the things you like to do and follow that with an extended list of ways to make money in a related business. Be creative with your business idea, there are many more options available for you than you probably realize!

Sell designer Handbags
I love handbags and I will be the first to admit that I have way too many. There is a lot of money that could be made with this as a home based business. You love handbags and selling handbags would be doing something that you love. You would make a ton of money. There are many ways to make money with handbags.
You could have purse parties or sell them on ebay. Be careful about what you sell though. You can get in a lot of trouble selling fakes and knock-offs. But there is still a lot of money that can be made selling designer inspired handbags. You just have to let the buyer know that it is not real. Purses sell very good all year. Women are always looking for new handbags. There are many websites out there that you can buy handbags from for wholesale. Buy them and then resell them for a profit and have fun doing it. Hey, you might even get a couple of bags for yourself.

Don't Lose Focus

Remember that your blog must have a business plan - a focus - a point of consideration. This goal is the entire point of your blog. If your blogging helps achieve this in the most efficient way possible, then go a head and keep blogging. But always entertain the idea that blogging isn't justified.
For example, if you are targeting search engine traffic especially, and are getting no search engine traffic at all, your number one priority should be SEO. If the package that you earn your income from is based on raw new visitors, the fact that this is important can't be overstated.
If you base your blog on an affiliate program, or a store, or the like - every secondary in come is just that: secondary. Have a focus for your blog, and unleash the revenue. Diversity is fantastic, but sometimes it pays off to literally put all of your eggs in one basket.

Make The Most Of Your Business
If you have a small home based business you might be sitting on a gold mine and not even realize it. Almost every business has potential for growth! There are so many ways for your small business to grow - Here are just a few examples ~
1. Find Follow-up products - For example - if you make sweaters for dogs you can also offer shampoo for them or leashes that match. You make and sell candles than get some candle holders wholesale or some fancy lighters. You get the idea.
2. Always be learning new skills. If you make candles now ,try learning to make soaps.
3. Always be searching for new customers. Join local groups, go to local sports events, and so on. Meet as many new people as you can. If people recognize you and like you than they will most likely want to do business with you. Don’t push you business when it isn’t appropriate, but do let everyone know what you do. This is great advice for direct sellers or party plan reps.
4. Reward good turns! If one of your customers referred you to a great sale or customer give them something to show your appreciation.
5. Take great care of your customers. Find out what they need and listen to what they say. If you have not heard from a customer in a while follow-up with them. Just call them and ask how everything is . You do not have to push your business, but it does help to let them know you are still around and still doing business.

Multiple Streams Of Income
I think that this is the only real way to make money at home. You have to have multiple ways that money is coming in. You can work online and make money a ton of ways. You can get paid to write, sell online on auctions or even open an e-store! You can have several blogs that make money from writing and affiliate programs. Making money from Google Adsense is another way to monetize your online presence.

The One Thing I Hate About Working At Home
It can be lonely! You spend most of your time alone at home! I spend most days at home with my little one and do not get out a lot. It can get to me sometimes. Not often though. I am lucky for that. Sometimes I just want to talk to an adult.
I have joined a few online forums that are so full of other parents that I get a little bit of fun and information. My favorite one to go to during the day for advice and fun is Diaper Swappers. I went there to find more information about cloth diapering and found that it is a great place to just go and talk to other mothers. There are many places online that can help you beat the loneliness.
I also go for walks and take my little one to the park so that we are out of the house. Getting fresh air is so good. It just makes me feel so much better. It makes my little one feel better , too and he usually takes quite a nap when we get home. Then I can get some more work done. Yippee!
If you are a work at home mom or are thinking of being one, you have to take this into consideration. Can you be alone for long periods of time? Do you need a lot of people around you? If you even think that you can not be alone for long periods of time, than working at home might not be for you. Think a lot before you take the plunge into working at home.

Working At Home With A Toddler!!
I am up early trying to get some work done before my little one wakes up! I thought that the older he got the easier it would be for me too work at home! Man, was I wrong! He wants more attention now more than ever. I have to chase him all over the house because he gets into stuff, he just wears me out. I can work really early in the morning , nap time, and really late at night. So basically --- I GET NO SLEEP AT ALL! I have tried everything to try and keep him busy while I try to work. He does love the Backyardigans and Barney, but they only last a half hour. I did luck out and got him a bunch of Barney videos , but he does not watch them for very long. So I guess that since I want to work at home, I will just have to get used to no sleep.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO ENTERTAIN A LITTLE ONE WHILE YOU TRY TO WORK AT HOME.

Make Money Taking Surveys Online
I tried one of those online survey sites about 4 months ago that say all you have to do is spend a couple of minutes filling out some surveys and you will be making hundreds a day..... YEAH RIGHT, I didn't make anything.
I joined 7 of these stupid websites and I actually tried filling out a couple of surveys on each site and they took forever then at the end they wanted me to buy things or I couldn't complete the survey.
These are complete scams so be aware!!! I couldn't believe they were even allowed to sell such bogus products.
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
Then about 2 weeks ago I was watching the news and they had some
vice presidents and marketing managers of some major multi million
dollar companies talking about a site that they personally work
with to pay consumers for their opinion, A site that actually just
wants the "average Joe's" honest opinion on products and services
and is willing to pay big money to get them.
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
I tried this site out and it is the only one I have ever seen that
actually pays you just to take surveys. I made almost $100 in my
first day just filling out 3 simple surveys.
This is the only legit survey site online, so if you are
interested in making hundreds per day just giving your opinions
then make sure you check this out.
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
P.S. there is a video on the homepage that will explain everything.
If I were you I would at least check the video out and if you don't
make at least $300 in your first week they have a 3 month refund
policy so just get your money back!!! This is definitely worth a
look!

Become a Yard Sale Organizer!!

If you are looking for a business that you can start out of your home and you love yard sales, than this is the one for you. You can start this with very little money. What you are doing is helping busy people have a successful yard sale. You organize the yard sale by getting the stuff ready and priced. You promote the sale for them by placing ads and signs.
They get to clean out their attics, basements, and garages of unused items and you get paid for selling it for them. If you have ever watched the television shows Clean Sweep or Clean House than you already have an idea of what you will be doing. You will have to already have a little bit of knowledge of the value of items. You will need to be able to display the items and be able to manage the cash box.
Advertise your Yard Sale Organizing service in local papers. Post flyers at local supermarkets, community centers, and where ever else you can think of. Make contact with local home cleaning services and ask them to recommend you to their clients.
This business will cost very little to start . You will just have the out of pocket expense of placing ads in papers, having business cards made, and having any flyers printed. Any expenses, like the ad for the yard sale and buying pricing stickers, for the yard sale itself is billable to the client.
You will be charging the client an hourly rate plus a percentage of the sales. A typical job ,with all of the organizing and the sale itself should be about 8 to 10 hours. All out of pocket expenses will be billed to the client.
This is a great idea for a low cost home based business. Also if you are a stay at home mom ,this is a great one, because most yard sales are only on weekends, maybe on friday and saturday. So you will still have time with your family.

Get Motivated to Work At Home
Hopefully you made your list of goals and are working at accomplishing each one. What? You haven't even started?
1. Take a moment to focus on what you need to accomplish today, this week, this month, this year.
2. Prioritize your goals. What really needs to happen today? What do you HAVE to do within the week. And what would you love to accomplish this year?
3. Take the first step today to reach at least one goal. This may be a simple step but "a journey begins with one step."
Sometimes our goals seem so out of reach it is tough to invision our goals actual being reached and therefore our motivation dwindles. Don't think you can make it happen in 1 day, a week, or even a year. Sometimes taking little steps to achieve your goals is all it takes. Do nothing today and that is one more day lost toward your goal. Do something today and that is one more step toward your goal.
Are you ready to move forward?

A New Free Auction Site
One of the things that really turns me off about ebay is all of the fees that they charge, so I am always on the lookout for other ways to sell things online that are either free or have lower fees. Well, when I heard about this totally free auction site I wanted to share it with everyone. Alterna Auctions is pretty new and it is geared towards items that moms can really use, like cloth diapers, nursing bras, baby clothes and more. Great site. Free to register and sell! That is the best thing! I think that if everyone helps on getting the word out about this it could turn into something big.
