8 Stitches & Taking Some Time Off

I was doing dishes this morning and cut my finger on a glass that broke in my hand while I was washing it. So I rushed to the hospital and had 8 stitches!! Now the pain shots have worn off and it hurts bad. Also it was my index finger on my right hand! I am trying to type this with my left hand only. So I might be taking a couple of days off of blogging.

3. Keep yourself positive whenever you are with your spouse.

4. Compliment each other often throughout the day.

5. Solve problems when they are small and do not let them grow.

6. Commit yourselves to solving problems so that you both win.

7. Have clear agreements on how, when, and where you are going to be working at home.

8. Let each other be able to tell the other "no" if you need to.

9. Close the door on work at the end of the work day. NEVER take business to bed and NEVER work in the bedroom. Let that be the one place you both have that is just for each other.

10. Don't keep negative feelings inside. Let them out when you need to.

11. Get out of the house together on a regular basis. Go to dinner, movies, etc.

12. Let each other pursue their own interest and hobbies.

13. Celebrate each and every day that you have together. Give each other hugs often.

Young Bucks ~ Raise A Millionaire!

Tuesday night on The Big Idea (10PM on CNBC) , Troy Dunn was on there. He is the author of Young Bucks: How to Raise a Future Millionaire and he was talking about how you can raise your kids to become millionaires and how they can even give you ideas and make you a millionaire. This was a great show. Some really great tips were given. There was even a father on there who took an idea that he had from playing video games with is son and made it into a 20 million dollar a year business, Play N Trade. Just an awesome idea and it shows how everyday things that you do can become a million dollar idea.

Stimulate Your Household First! (Stimulus Package)

Everyone on the news seems to be talking about this stimulus package and what you should do with it. Some say to spend , others say save. Who cares what they say! I think that it should be a selfish thing and you should use it to stimulate your own household.
I think that if you have had any ideas at all for a home based business, that this will be the time to do it. That will really work toward recession proofing your family. You will have a small business that will help you along in the hard times. Everyone needs a backup plan and that is exactly what we are going to use out stimulus package for. Me and my hubby have had some ideas for extra income and that extra money will be just enough to do it with. That extra money will help to keep more money coming into our household. And THAT is what a stimulus package is supposed to do isn't is? Stimulate your brain to help you to come up with new ideas and to pursue new ideas that you would have otherwise not been able to do. Start that home based business that you have been wanting to start, re-energize one that you already have, or invest in another one. Anything to help your family!! Be totally selfish with this money. That is what we are going to do. We are not going to rush out and shop. That money is going to stay close to home and hopefully it will keep new money coming in. This way it will double, triple, and so on. Let the money grow for a while. Do not follow anyone. Do what is right for your family. Sure there are many things that your family might want, but is it what they need? Yeah , my kids would love a X-Box 360, but if their X-Box is working fine , why do they need another one? Yeah < I would love to have a Louis Vuitton handbag, but do I really need one. (Sometimes, I think I do!) Our family would benefit more from a new home based business than having a new game. A home based business would have more money coming into the household in the long run. What would spending the money do for us? We would just sit around after it is gone and say to each other"I wish we would have done this" and telling ourselves that the next time we have the extra money we will do it!!
So, if you REALLY want to stimulate the economy of the USA , then start at home. If you are living within your means and have your own business, that will stimulate the economy more. With your own business, that you are paying taxes on, and having income from you will be able to buy more in the long run, than you could have with that Stimulus check.

Heads Or Tails - Wonder

I spend a ton of time with my kids. Which I have always loved doing. I guess it is just something that I was always meant to do. I never seem to get bored with it or them. I am always WONDERING about how my kids can find such enjoyment out of the little things. I wonder how my 17 month old son can just be given some book or toy and play for hours. Or I wonder about how my 14 year old son got such a great sense of humor. He is so funny and always making up these funny little songs. I wonder how he does that! I wonder all of the time how my daughter , who is 18, has such a great fashion sense with me as a mom! Aren't kids supposed to copy their parents? She does not even have one pair of sweat pants! That is totally not fair. I would not know how to dress or put on makeup if my life depended on it. I often wonder where they are going to be 10 years from now. I wonder if they will be married, how many kids they will have, and what they will be doing with the college education, that I wonder how me and their dad is going to pay for. I just always sit and wonder about things. I think some people might call it daydreaming. Maybe. Oh well, I have 3 kids, that gives me a ton of stuff to wonder about!

I have to admit , I do not always wonder about my kids, the last few days I have been wondering if my computer is going to last very much longer! The poor baby is an ancient 4 years old. I think pretty soon it will be going to computer heaven. I just wonder if I will be lucky enough and it will wait until my hubby gets his taxes done and back!

I have a new favorite television show! The Big Idea is on CNBC every week night at ten PM. I love it. There are such great tips, ideas, and more on it. Every episode is full of such great stuff that the motivation for working at home and starting your own business is always kept fresh. I have some great ideas that I have learned from this show. I hope that everyone enjoys this Blog Carnival. I am going to be thinking about if this is the last one or not. I will see how the submissions go this week. Last week I got over 200 submissions and most of them were repeats and it takes a lot to go through all of them.

Home Based Business Idea - Teach Cooking or Baking

This is a great idea that I wanted to share with all of you on how you could make extra money.
Are you a great cook? Can you bake like there is no tomorrow?
You could teach young girls and teens how to cook or bake. You could hold workshops on the weekends and teach them. You could start with basics and work your way up to where they are cooking their own meals. Teaching young girls how to bake would be really fun. You could even have a special class for cake decorating. You could have the final class be a huge dinner for all of their parents and each girl has a certain part of the meal that they have to make. Or if you teach baking then all of you spend the day baking and then sell them at the local fair or craft show.
Advertising would be easy! Put up ad at the YMCA or Girls club. Word of mouth would be awesome way to get the word out,too.
Maybe you could even teach special stuff to women! You could teach them how to bake bread, decorate cakes, or whatever you are really good at.
If you have a specialty and you love to cook or bake then you should try this. What better way to make some extra money then to share your talents.
How much to charge would be up to you. I think you should figure in what you will be teaching them, the cost of the food etc, and the time. Check around and see how much people usually get for teaching stuff.

Home Based Business Idea - Assemble Items At Home

This seems like a neat thing that you could do at home. Tiny Details uses home assemblers to make their dollhouse miniatures. YOu would be making little things, like books, magazine racks, and stuff like that. Pretty cool. Me and my daughter are thinking of trying this one out. It seems like an easy way to make a few extra dollars. They say on their website that the amount of money you make is totally up to you and how much you can do! YOu might not make too much in the beginning ,But after you get used to making the items and speed up a little bit , you would make more.

Thursday Thirteen #25 ~ 13 Treats Instead Of Sweets

I find that with being a stay at home/work at home mom I have to watch myself , because I will go to the fridge a lot and snack all day. It is so easy to just grab a bag of chips and a can of coke while I am working. I do not want to stop to cook something for myself! I do not always eat healthy. So this Thursday Thirteen is all about other ways that you can treat yourself , so that you are not grabbing sweets and junk.

1. Go Outside! Go for a walk, a long drive in the country, go to the park, etc. I know this is a hard one now that it is colder weather. But I do go out on my back porch every once in a while to get a breath of fresh(and cold) air. It does wake me up!

2. Buy yourself some flowers.

3. Take a relaxing bubble bath. Or if you can , go to a spa.

4. Do something handy around the house that has been neglected. Fix something, Build something new, or work in the yard.

5. Buy yourself a great present. Something that you might not usually buy for yourself. Go to ebay and look around at designer handbags or something. Something totally extravagant.

6. Enjoy a sport. Go shoot some hoops at the local park or Y. Play some tennis, golf, or join a bowling team.

7. Curl up and just read a juicy novel. Grab a trashy book and relax. Although if it is too trashy it might make you more stressed and hot and bothered. HaHa.

8. Serve your favorite meal on your best china and invite someone special for dinner. Maybe a good time to have the grandparents over and remind them of how they said the kids would have fun spending a night with them!!

9. Take a class that you have always wanted to learn, like pottery, yoga, photography, or whatever.

10. Sit in the sun and take a nap. Get a hammock and lay in it outside where there is none of your work distractions.

11. Make a change in your day! Rearrange your furniture, get a new hairstyle, go on a day trip, shop at a different store, and anything else that is different..

12. Do something childish! Play around with the dog, go fly a kite, anything ! While the kids are at school, I will sometimes go and play a video game!! I still love Tomb Raider!

13. Go to a movie, concert, a play, a game, a museum, or a zoo.

Heads Or Tails - P

This weeks Heads Or Tails has to be about anything that starts with the letter "P". So since I have a work at home mom blog I had to try to find something that would still stick to my blog. I had some difficulty with this, I am having one of those days , where I just want to go back to bed. Then it came to me. My "P" word is Passion!! Which is something that you have go to have a ton of to be able to succeed at any home based business. You have to have the passion to keep going! The passion to get up every morning and "go to work" instead of just staying in bed all day. If you do not have the passion for your home based business than it will most likely not be a success. Passion is what keeps you going , what keeps you reaching for your goal, what keeps you sticking to something until it gets done and not getting off target. If you have a home based business that you are passionate about, it will be much easier to work at. You will promote it better, sale better, write better, and so on. Everything about your home based business will be awesome with the passion for it pushing you to keep at it.

A Typical Day For Me ~ A WAHM~

What is the day of a work at home mom like? I will just write a little bit about what my typical day is like.
I usually get up at about 3 a.m. so that I can get about 3 hours of writing(blogging) done before I have to wake my 2 teens up to get ready for school, I make them their breakfast and help them with whatever, My 17 month old son usually wakes up at about this time, too. So , I also have to get him all ready for his day. My teens leave at 7:45 and me and my little one usually watch disney, pbs, or nick jr. He plays around my feet as I do dishes and clean the house. He takes his nap at around 11 or 12 and then I can get some more work done! When he wakes up I get supper decided on and if I have to I start it. My teens get home from school at 3:30 and if I do not have to run my son around to one of his practices, we are home and I have them supper and than I get to relax for the evening and I get to bed at the same time as my little one at around 9 p.m. then I wake up at 3a.m. and it starts all over!!
My days are usually pretty much the same everyday, unless I have appointments, practices, laundry, shopping, or whatever that I need to do. MY husband is a truck driver who is usually gone on long hauls , so I have the time and the house all to myself to get a lot of work done. I love it and would not change a thing about it. This is a choice that I made about 10 years ago and do not regret it at all.

Home Based Business Idea - Handcrafted Runes

This is an easy way to make money online or you can sell them out of a flea market booth. They sell pretty good. You can make them yourself out of wood, river rocks, glass gems, or whatever else you can think of. I have even seen them made out of clay. You could even go a little further and make jewelry out of them. I used to make them and sell them on online auction sites, like Gothic Auctions.
I even have a supplier that I can buy them from and they will dropship them for me. I have used this supplier for a few years now. Stonelite Creations. I have a friend that bought a tanning bed for herself and started charging friends a couple of dollars to use it. She ultimately found out what she needed to do to be able to let others use her tanning bed and within a year she had bought a second tanning bed. Now 10 years later she owns one of the biggest tanning salons in our area, I am pretty sure that she has 3 different salons. She started out of her own home and now is a millionaire. What Are You Working For?

Everyone has a dream and a goal. Something that is in the back of your head all of the time, that you want to do. I am going to share my dream that I am doing this work at home thing to hopefully reach. I have already realized my dream of being home with my kids. I am so happy for that and I have just one more dream that needs to be met.

Actually, I am lucky, and it is also my husband's dream, too. That is too own our own land. We do not want to buy a house , we would rather have the land so that we could build our own house and do it the way we want. It would be solar powered and totally be off-the-grid. This is something that we would like to do before he retires. Who knows if we will, but this is a dream that keeps us going.

Everyone has a dream or a goal that keeps them going. What is yours? How close are to fulfilling it? Or have you already done it and are moving onto another one?

Am I An Expert?

NO!
But I do have a ton of experience at working at home and being a mother. I have 3 kids and have worked at home for the last ten years at least. I have even homeschooled my kids. Any of the tips, advice, home based business ideas, or anything else I have done or am doing. So I am not an expert, but I do have the "on-the-job" training. Which is actually better in some cases. So what if someone has been to college their whole life to be some specialist, if they have not used it or done it than it was all for nothing. I just want to share what I have done and hope that anyone who reads what I share will find it useful and will be successful at their work at home endeavors. All of the home based business ideas that I have been sharing with my readers each day are ones that I have personally used. I am only sharing the ones that I have done and am really making money with. I do not want to share any get rich quick scams or programs that will not make anyone any money. (Check on home based businesses on the Better Business Bureau website before you decide. ) I actually have done everything that is written about on this blog. Gas Too High?? Work At Home!

I am so glad that I am able to work at home. I am home with my kids and am here for them when they need me. I am here if someone is sick or needs to go somewhere. Plus, I just realized, I am saving a huge amount on gas. Gas in my small town in 3.09 a gallon and since there are no jobs where I live, I would have to drive about 100 miles round trip to go to a "9-5" job. But because I do work at home , I do not have the worries of paying for gas all of the time. I have only had to fill my tank one time in the last month! 35.00 will get me around my small town for the whole month. When my hubby was working at the cement plant he used to work at, he was spending 20.00 a day!! Now he is a truck driver so he does not have that anymore. When it gets warm , we are all getting bikes and I also am going to get a really great stroller so that I can walk places, too. Wake UP!

I have such a hard time waking up in the morning. I have to get up very early so that I can get some work done in the morning before my 17 month old wakes up. There is so much work that I do online. You need to do some serious thinking and reflection on what your life's purpose and goals are before you decide what you will be doing at your work at home business. Maybe asking yourself the questions below will help you get started:

2. How would you have to act, speak, and think to bring that purpose into reality?

4. How would you live if you were actually working on your life goal and purpose? Would working at home allow me to be myself?

This should be a starting point onto something truly amazing for you and your family. You should really put a lot of thought into starting a home based business and keep in mind that you want to be doing something that YOU love to do! Do not let others influence you, this is your goal and dream. Now get out there and live it!

Increase your ebay profits - work at home moms

Some sell on eBay to clean out their garage or attic. Some sell to make a little extra money here and there. But for some, eBay represents a chance to create a second income or start a home business. Product choice is important. But to really increase profit you must know how to increase the number and amount of bids per item. An eBay seller must maximize each product's profit margin. This article describes techniques to make as much profit as possible.

1. Sell like products at the same time. Bidders look to see what else you have for sale they might be interested in. Combined shipping saves postage for the buyer. Packing in the same box saves time and packing costs for the seller.

2. Bundle a less desirable item with a more desirable item increases sales. This is an old offline auction technique. If the bidder wants the better item he has to buy both. If two sellers offer the same item, the buyer bids on the two item auction. Bundling two low cost items together also increases bids. A buyer may not be willing to pay shipping for one item, but would for two.

3. Remember seasonal issues. Don't sell snow skis in July, water skis in January. Be sure to offer seasonal items early enough to allow for shipping. Don't expect to sell many Christmas items that must be shipped during the second week of December.

4. Understand profit margins. Don't buy to resell for only a $5 profit when you can make $20 on a different item. Determine your desired monthly income and choose products appropriately. Want to make 1000 a month? That is $250 a week. That's ten successful actions at $25.00 profit, or five items at $200 a month, or ten items at $100 each. Also packing 10 items takes less time than packing 20 items. Always consider time as a cost.

5. Don't forget back end sales and secondary products. Offer similar products during the payment process or on your auction store/web site. If you sell underground fences for dogs, an up-sell item is a customized collar. A secondary product could be a pet door. Another secondary product could be a ebook on "Travel Safely With Your Pet". A back-end sale to the ebook could be a item that helps your family travel safely with your pet.

6. The List - For many successful online sellers the mailing list is where their money is made. Using a autoresponder, sellers automatically email customers on their list at regular intervals. Including content with announcements of upcoming sales increases back end sales. Once a customer buys, they are more likely to buy again from same person or company.

7. Customer demographics should be considered. Collectors have expectations non-collectors don't. Example, some book buyers that are allergic like to see "book from non-smoking home" in ad. This would earn you a higher bid. What does the customer expect to see in a description?

8. Auction terms and conditions should be included with each auction. What shipping options are available? Do you take questions? Do you ship only certain days? What kind of payments do you take? Type whatever standard terms you offer in a word processor and cut and paste into your auctions. This saves time. For some sellers, typing the content for each auction is one of the most time consuming tasks.

Profit involves keeping costs reasonably low and creating higher bids. We've described some techniques for increasing profit. Sit down and mentally run through the process of auction selling and come up with some of your own ideas. EBay is a great business opportunity but like any business, sellers must be wise in their product choice and sales techniques.
