Heads or Tails - Halloween!

Simple ways to create extra cash!!

1. Get a second job - There are tons of part-time jobs. Just remember to consider the extra expenses you might incur while working a second job; If you're eating out every night because you're working 14 hours a day and no longer have time to cook for yourself, or incurring additional expenses for clothing, or transportation because the new job is across town, or the extra income has bumped you up into a much higher tax bracket… you get the point.


2. Cut back on spending - This is usually the easiest and quickest way to create more cash, and it's something everyone can do. If you’ve already sized down and cut back as far as you can, I challenge you to look further. Write down all of your spending for a few weeks and undoubtedly you’ll find something else that can be cut. No matter how small the savings may be, every penny counts. Example-- Take your own coffee instead of buying at coffee shop.

3. Cancel subscriptions to magazines - You can read most online or get them at the library.

4. Stop buying new books or renting videos - Find something good to read or watch at the library instead, for free!

5. Use those coupons! - When you toss those weekly coupons out with the trash it's almost like throwing away CASH. Take a few moments each week to cut out just the coupons you can really use, then look through the grocery store advertisements and match your coupons to the sales, saving double! And if your grocery store doesn’t offer a double coupon deal, try to find one that does.

6. Forget your loyalty to name brands - You can save a fortune buying store brand foods, which are almost always just as good. Especially when using the item in a recipe with other ingredients – no one will notice the difference. You don't have to commit to buying them for the rest of your life, just try them!


7. Combine errands into one trip - I've used this little trick for years. The more errands you can combine into one weekly trip, the more gas money you will save, therefore creating more cash.

8. Stop buying expensive gifts - When you need to create more cash, spending money on expensive store-bought gifts for your family and friends, or even yourself, doesn’t make much sense. Your homemade gifts from the kitchen etc are a great idea.

9. Cancel memberships to health clubs - Walking is one of the best exercises for you anyways, and it’s free! If you don’t have an area near your home that is good for walking go to a local shopping mall.

10. Create cash by selling your unused items online - Selling items on eBay can be a little time consuming, but I've sold alot of items we no longer use and are in great condition and the bonus of making extra money is the decluttering!

11. Have a garage sale or work with consignment stores - When dealing with consignment stores, make sure they are reputable and have been in business for a while. You could even start your own business by helping other people sell their stuff - if this is something you enjoy doing.

12. Sell your handcrafted products for a profit - The list of items you can make to sell is endless – dog houses, book cases, bird houses, painted mailboxes, plants, quilts, crocheted baby blankets, cloth diapers, pillows, baked goods, homemade bread, jelly, Christmas ornaments, toys, picture frames… you name it! If it’s something people want or need to buy, you can make it and earn a nice profit!

13. Offer services or start a home business - such as childcare, senior care, tutoring, music lessons, sewing, typing, lawn care, housecleaning, pet sitting and even personal shopping. Have some inexpensive business cards printed announcing your services and hand them out to everyone you know.


14. Have a bake sale with lemonade while you are having a yardsale.

15. Give with a pure heart - When giving, do not give to make money or earn favor… “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38 (NIV)

Start Your Own Scrapbook Business

Scrapbooking is the number one craft in America. Everyone has photos and many want to preserve them in a manner other than slipping them into photo sleeves in cheap albums. Instead, they want to artistically embellish pages to put their photos on that showcase the photo and the story behind it.

Recent research indicates that only about 4% of women are avid scrappers. While the industry has experienced some challenges in recent years, there are still plenty of people who are not scrapping or who are not really aware of it.

Personalized service is the number one desire of any shopper and especially of scrapbookers. There is a wide open opportunity for providing that personal service and making some money doing it.

There are several paths you can take to start your own scrapbook business:

* Scrapbook consultant: A consultant can provide a wide range of services. She can hold parties and classes in her home or the home of others. She will sell products she either has on hand or from a catalog. This can be done independently with a group like ScrapBiz or by signing up with one of the many direct sales companies in the industry. However, the difference in profit will be large since direct sales companies only pay 20-30% commission vs. buying products on your own through a wholesale distributor. She can also provide one-on-one consulting to help someone start scrapping or motivate someone to keep doing it - like a personal scrapbooking coach. She will charge by the hour for those services.

* Online Scrapbook Store: This is a popular option for those wanting to start their own business. It's easy enough to set up an online store and stock it with products. But the really hard part is making your store stand out. There are thousands of online scrapbook stores on the internet and finding loyal customers can be tricky. Many scrappers find that combining their online store with another activity gives them a better chance of success.

* Vending at retreats, crops and conventions: Another popular choice - often combined with the online store model. This gets you in front of customers and builds a personal relationship with them. That will hopefully drive traffic to your online store. This is a fun option but hard work as you have pack, unpack and repack your store constantly. However, it can also be one of the most successful scrapbook businesses to undertake. This is especially true if you gain popularity or fall into favor with a regular group who gets together often to crop.

* Kit Club: Unfortunately, anyone who can differentiate between cardstock and patterned paper thinks they can start a kit club. Like the online store model, it only SOUNDS easy. There are lots of tricky parts that most people don't' consider until they are knee-deep in kits! But, this can also be a fantastic way to grow your scrapbook business as you build a long list of people who like your style. This model is also often combined with the online store and crop vending options.

* Scrapping for others: Becoming a freelance or custom scrapper is a very viable option for women who really love to scrap but who don't want to worry about parties, inventory, etc. Many people love the look of a scrapbook but lack the time, talent or desire to make one. They will happily pay someone else to make one for them. Most scrapbook artists charge around $20 per single-sided 12x12 page. Sometimes that includes supplies and sometimes the customer must buy the supplies themselves. The key is to treat this like a business and make your pages as quickly and efficiently as possible. Burn-out is high in this option and finding customers can be tricky. It takes good marketing skills as most customers don't really know they need a scrapbook. Business customers are going to give you a higher rate of success as they are going to be willing to pay more once you convince them how nice a scrapbook about their business would look.

* Starting a small bricks and mortar store: This is the least desirable option for owing your own scrapbook business. You really need to have a strong background in retail management. Many scrapbookers don't, but still take a crack at it. Therefore, the industry has seen many, many stores fail. You have to know exactly how to manage your inventory and market your business. It's also the most labor and financially intensive model that includes a lot of risk. If you don't have the stomach for risk or the deep pockets, then look at other ideas for starting your own business, first. It's perfectly acceptable to start out as a home-based business and move into a store later.

There are lots of options for starting a scrapbook business. They key is to take the time to write down what you want out of it personally and professionally. You have to find a path that fits your family situation as well as one that fits your talents and passion. It won't be easy to start your own business, but finding success will be possible. And, because you are doing something you love, you will find the journey very personally rewarding.

What can we learn from Miley Cyrus? She really does know how to market herself. Her tickets to her concert are going for so much money and Hannah Montana is a great Disney show that everyone is watching. How is she doing it and how can we do it to get our name out there and get as huge results as she is??
Well, for one thing , she is every where! We can take that and run with it. We have got to get our names and businesses out there so that they are every where,too.

Miley Cyrus is really nice. If you have a home based business you have got to learn to be nice. Your customers are not going to come back to you if you always have an attitude. Smile and go with it. Your customers are like Miley Cyrus fans, you have to put them first and they will keep wanting more. Your customers will be wanting to pay whatever it takes to get a piece of you.
She dresses nice. As a work at home mom or dad it might be tempting to stay cooped up in the house all day in your pjs, but you never know when a customer might knock on the door or when you might have to run to the store. You do not want to risk this. Always out your best foot forward and look as good as you can. You are working at home, but you are still working.
You can learn a lot from Miley Cyrus and if you just watch what other celebs do to get their name out there you might pick up some great tips.

Healthy Eating Tips for Busy Moms

Moms are constantly on the go. Whether you are a working mom or a stay-at-home mother, it is hard to find the time to sit and eat a meal, let alone a healthy one. Here are a few tips to sneak that healthy eating into the busiest of schedules.

Exercise is important but eating is the best way to get the nutrition that you need to keep the body healthy. If your eating habits are poor, then the benefits of exercise are decreased. In essence, you are working against yourself.

The world of work has necessitated the need for instant everything, including food. If you don’t have time for breakfast, you grab a pre-packaged granola bar. For lunch, you eat a frozen microwaveable meal and grab a soda from the vending machine. Dinner comes from a fast food restaurant or other takeout place.

For a busy mom, this type of processed eating is not going to yield the energy she needs to make it through the day successfully. These foods may be okay in a pinch, but they definitely should not be the rule of thumb. Healthy eating habits for mom also translate into healthy eating habits for the rest of the family as well.

Let’s start with what mom needs to eat. No more than twelve ounces of protein are needed per day. People don’t realize that getting that much protein is not hard. Usually we are getting too much protein which gets stored in the body as fat. One or two servings of fruit and five to seven servings of vegetables are recommended each day. Fats should be kept to a minimum with most being unsaturated oils. Carbohydrates should come in the form of whole grains, beans, and legumes. Very little processed sugar should be consumed.

The best way to achieve this is pre-planning. The evening before, plan what you will eat the next day. Package your snacks into portion sizes and put together your meals.

Weekends are a good time to cook several meals for the week ahead. This way, the meals can be separated into containers and frozen to be warmed up later. Because you have prepared the food, you know what types of ingredients are in it.

If you plan to be out during lunch, fix a salad or other meal that does not need refrigeration. If it does, carry an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack. This way, you are never without something healthy to eat.

A busy mother can still be a healthy mother. Use weekends to prepare future meals. Get the family involved to lessen the work and increase the variety of the meals.

This is my first Heads or Tails and I wanted to stick to the theme of my blog. So I am doing 10 things about working at home.

1. Working at home I get to be here for my kids. Whenever they need me I am here.

2. Working at Home you have the freedom to really do whatever you want to do. You can do whatever you want to make money at home. I do several things! I work online, blogging, writing, affiliate programs, and more. There are so many things that someone can do at home to make money. You can do crafts, party plan sales, blogging, freelance work of all kinds, and much more.

3. Working at home you can take time off whenever you want to. If I wanted to take a week off right this week I could and no one could say anything about it. I would not like it though.

4. Working at home is a great thing for home schoolers. If you home school you children it is much easier to be a work at home mom. I used to do both.

5. Working at home can sometimes be lonely and I sometimes long for adult conversation. Right now I converse with a one year old and y'all know how far that can get ya!! LOL

6. Working at home means that my family has a great home cooked meal every single night. I can actually take the time to cook a whole meal. When I did work at a store I was always so tired when I got home that we either ate out, ordered pizza, or just threw something in the microwave.

7. Working at home is good for someone with a disability or a chronic illness. I have Fibromyalgia and working at home is great for me. Sometimes it is a chore to get out of bed. I sometimes cannot sleep at night , too , so when I am up at 1 in the morning or whenever I can get online and work.

8. Working at home is just fun.

9. Working at home is a great way to supplement your income or spouses income. If you are a one income household than working at home can help quite a bit.

10. I love being home with my family.

500th Post!

I just cannot believe how far this blog has come in a few short months. Well , 10 months now. How cool is it to be writing in a blog everyday! I have actually started making money with this quite a while back. I started right away with monetizing it. I just went ahead and did it from the start! This is a blog about making money so how would I be able to write about working at home and making money at home if I was not doing it myself. I do not think I would have come very far!
I really like this blog. I do have several other blogs ( a recipe blog, gardening, and a couple of others), but this is my favorite. I have put the most work into this one. It is the blog that I will work on everyday! I have not had writer's block with this blog very much. Maybe a couple of times. My other blogs I might be lucky to update them once a week.
I hope that all of you that read this blog and anyone who visits my blog will be here for the 1000th post!

Busy moms need time to relax, too. If you are a working mom or a stay-at-home mom with too much to do, take some time for yourself. Schedule an at-home spa day where you can be alone and relax.

The first thing is to set aside time to pamper your body and your mind. Once a month is a healthy way to rejuvenate and get away from the daily grind of life. This time can be the same day every month or schedule it when you need it most.

Give your spouse plenty of advance warning. Let him know that he will have the kids for the duration of the day—out of the house. You can plan with him what activities to do to keep the kids occupied.

Before spa day arrives, gather all of the items that are needed to make this day special for you. If you choose soothing music as the backdrop for your day, have a CD player and all of your favorite music at the ready. If you plan a pedicure or manicure, assemble the foot spa, necessary salts and creams, and nail polish.

When the day arrives, awake when you feel refreshed. Tell your spouse and the kids not to wake you when they leave. When you finally awake, taking a long shower or a soothing bath will bring you back to life.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast that you don’t have to cook. Keep it light with a bowl of cereal and fruit or yogurt with granola on top. Read the morning paper or begin the day with your favorite devotional book. To further awaken the senses and the body, try a brief twenty minute yoga routine.

What’s next? Start with the feet. Let them soak in a warm foot spa bath. A pumice stone will smooth rough heels and remove dead skin. Peppermint foot cream keeps feet tingling. Finish with a fresh coat of nail polish.

The hands need pampering as well. Soak nails in a soapy solution to clean the cuticles and nail beds. Massage your entire hand in the solution. When dry, clip any hang nails and push back cuticles with an orange stick. Use a moisturizing hand cream to soften cuticles.
While you are applying your favorite nail polish, watch a movie.

Enjoy a cooking free lunch and a walk to get some fresh air. Feeling a bit tired? Finish the day with a nap before the husband and the kids return.

The day will seem much too short, but you will feel better. You have received a day of spa treatment for a fraction of the cost at the spa.

Halloween Costumes

With Halloween coming up pretty soon I have found the best costumes that combine my 2 favorite things in one!! I love NFL football and I also love Halloween! So when I seen http://www.nfluniformset.com with their NFL
Halloween Costume I just about lost it. I love them. They are so cute!
I am a mother of 3 , 2 of them being boys and I can tell you right now that for Halloween we do not have to guess what we are going to be going out as ~ I will just go over to http://www.nfluniformset.com and get my sons a couple of these Halloween Costume of their favorite teams and go out and have some great fun. They will be the life of the party in their official little Colts uniform. Yes it has to be Colts. Do you have a problem with that?? Hey , I live in Indiana and there is nothing better here than IU basketball and Indianapolis Colts and Pacers!! That is just life here in Indiana. On gamedays in our small town the streets are dead quiet because everyone is watching the games.
I would not be a good parent if I did not get my sons a NFL uniform for Halloween. Although I think they might wear them year-round. But that is all right , if they wear the uniforms out I will just go back to http://www.nfluniformset.com and pick up some more.

Tackle It Tuesday

I could probably write a book on just the stuff that I need to tackle. Most of it I cannot take pictures of. Right now what I am wanting to tackle is getting all of my writing done. I have several writing "jobs" that I need to finish so I can get paid.
MOMMA NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES!

I also have a storage unit that I want to tackle and have emptied by the end of the month. Then I will have a huge tackle it of where to put the stuff once I have it here at the house. I do have a shed ,but I do not think it would be big enough for all of the stuff so I will have to have a yard sale or donate to the local Goodwill.

This is one important tackle - I have to get my sons room cleaned up so that he can play in there. He has so many toys and the room can barely be walked in. He has a box of toys here in the living room that he plays with ,but wants to play in his room. I will have it done by tomorrow. Knock on wood.

MY First Blog Post

Wow how far can someone go in a short ten months?? I think that I have come a long way since my first post on here:
(this is my first post to this blog)
"This is great ! I am very busy as a work at home mom and now I am going to build another blog!I have read so many blogs and decided I need a new one. I hope it will be well-read!If I can keep the writing in top form then hopefully millions will come to read it.If you build it , they will come!Well - we will see if that is true."

Well, i have not had millions of readers, but I have learned a ton!! I started out thinking that I already knew quite a bit, but I was wrong. I actually am still learning something new about blogging every single day. This is a hard life trying to write something every day that will bring new readers in and keep old ones. I do sometimes have blogger block , but on those days I try to write some get paid to write posts. I have been making some money with this venture and have been surprised at how much I have earned in a few short months.

This is so much fun that I still cannot wait to get up in the morning and get on here to write. I hope in another 10 months I will still feel the same way.
