Thursday 13 Issue #12 - Recycle ,Reuse, Make Money!

This weeks Thursday Thirteen is in honor of American Recycle Day!!

America Recycles Day

I am going to be giving you 13 different ways or things you can recycle to make money or use for gifts, etc. Things that you might throw away will take on a whole new look and your trash just might become your own treasure. While you are trying to start a home based business , you could be saving the planet!

Lets get going and check out these ideas.

1. Recycle Your old jeans into some really nifty items, like quilts, pillows, handbags, and more, and sell them at craft fairs or online. This link shows some really great ideas for using old jeans.

2. Recycle all of those plastic bags that you get from the grocery store into great crocheted handbags! This is such a neato idea. I have seen it on several websites and think that it is really neat. Here is one of the links that shows some things to do with plastic bags.

3. Recycle tin cans into candle holders, lanterns, jewelry, and more. I saw some really great ideas over here for reusing a lot of items.

4. Recycle and alter old books and magazines into handbags, cute jewelry boxes, safes, etc. I have seen a lot of ideas for reusing these here. There are a few different style of home made handbags on this webpage.

5. Reuse glass jars that you get when buying spaghetti sauce and the like by using them for candles, Gifts in Jars, bath & body items, and more.

6. Keep all of your junk mail and turn it into beautiful home made paper. There are so many things that you can do with this. Paper Crafts

7. Turn old luggage into tables , shelves, stools, or storage.

8. Reuse that old computer by taking it apart and making really great geeky jewelry. Use the keyboard letters to make great bracelets that say things. Here is a few examples ,but you can do a search and find tons of ideas.

9. Reuse all of those old cd's and dvd's that you do not need anymore , either they are too scratched to use or you do not need the cd's because everything is on your IPod. Here , here,
and more. You can also reuse the cases they come in. I have seen them used as photo frames. Pretty cool.

10. Reuse any paper bags that you have as the wrapping paper for the gifts that you are going to be giving away this Christmas after you make all of this stuff. Have your kids decorate it for you. What fun. HERE
are a bunch of paper craft websites and ideas. I have even seen paper bowls that have been made and are really pretty.

11. This is my daughters favorite recycle ~Altering Clothing! Instead of throwing it out ,just reuse it and alter it into something else. You will have a whole new wardrobe.

12. There are some great crafts out there where you reuse and recycle plastic bottles. Here
are some of them.

13. Recuse old salvage items, like old
windows which can become coffee tables, old beds that can be turned into benches, old dressers with drawers missing can become shelves. I have even seen old, vintage fridges being used as shelves.

Have fun with this. You will see that the stuff that I listed was just the tip of the iceburg. You can do all kinds of stuff with anything.

Very good advice. And of course we should think green all the time, not just on one day.

I really like the idea of using discs as bicycle reflectors. When I used to get AOL CDs in the mail on a regular basis, I would sometimes use them as coasters. Thanks for sharing these tips.
